The United Kingdom will begin to distribute Covid vaccines around the country after the Pfizer and BioTech shots were approved. They are now the first country to roll out the mass produce of vaccines, hopefully guiding or sparking other countries to start to take action and circulate doses.

The British Medicines regulator stated the vaccine proved to be 95% effective, which is enough to be handed out. ‘800,000 shots and being transported to the UK’ Germany pharmaceutical company Pfizer says. The first people to get the vaccine will be front line workers who are handling covid patients on a daily basis, then people vulnerable who have contracted Covid, next being over-80s and those with serious respiratory diseases who are most at risk.

Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish First Minister also announced that the first people on the priority list will be immunised by Tuesday. Boris Johnson- UK Prime Minister stated that the economy will start moving again after the distribution of the vaccine. The Government is also easing restrictions, after the second lockdown is over.

On Friday the 5th, the UK’s first batch of doses arrived, containing 40 million shots.
