Earlier this week, the made Hijab’s an official part of their uniform, they did this to encourage more Muslim’s to join the force and create a more diverse community as well as inclusive. Female police constable Zeena Ali will be the first to wear the Hijab, she told reporters that "It feels great to be able to go out and show the New Zealand Police hijab as part of my uniform, I think that seeing it, more Muslim women will want to join as well."

A Hijab is a covering worn by some Muslim women as part of their religion outside the presence of a male outside their family. It covers their head, chest and sometimes body. The Hijab holds to the Islamic principles of modesty.
