The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is on the 25th of November. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, there has been a drastic increase in domestic violence and all types of violence and assaults against women, therefore creating a name- The Shadow Pandemic. “The UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign, a multi-year effort aimed at preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls, will focus on amplifying the call for global action to bridge funding gaps, ensure essential services for survivors of violence during the COVID-19 crisis, focus on prevention, and collection of data that can improve life-saving services for women and girls.” -United Nations.

The theme for this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!” and focuses on giving essential aid to survivors of assaults, prevention of the violence against women, and collecting data that can help prevent these assaults. Around 40% of the women who experience violence do not report them, and the UN is trying to enforce ways which can allow them to reach out to women, who do not seek help after they get assaulted.
