Can Trump win back the White House?
Earlier this month, on November 6th, it was announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had won the election. However, Trump has been planning on overturning the election results to favour him, after 2 weeks he does not concede. Trump’s team has filed lawsuits all over the country and to the courts. Many courts in all states have dismissed the President’s plea to look into the votes and declare there has been a voter’s fraud. All states were supposed to recount their votes, and after the recounting- many states ballots are coming back remaining in Biden’s favour. Biden has 306 electoral votes, whereas Trump has 232 so the Republican Team is thinking of a new strategy since 306 electoral votes are hard to overturn.
Some said strategies were to stop the vote-certification process in enough states by interjecting or filing more lawsuits.
He will accomplish this by putting pressure on those in a high enough position to make a difference with the votes, such as the electors who usually follow their state’s electoral votes and vote the higher number. Trump has been targeting Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nevada in hope to overturn them.
Nonetheless, if Trump’s party is unable to provide proof that votes were false, or his attempts go to dust, then Biden will become the official President of 2020-2024 on the 20th of January, even if Trump refuses defeat or concedes.
The last closely contested election similar to this was in 2000, between George Bush and Al Gore, there was a mere hundred votes difference. The Supreme Court had interjected at the last minute, declaring George W Bush as the President.
